ZABIST Karachi hosted the 4th Global Conference on Research in Education and Social Sciences 2026 titled, `Integrating Technology for a Sustainable Society’ on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on education.
Speakers emphasized that integration of technology in every day learning is essential, as AI and global connectivity have transformed the speed with which information is transmitted. At the same time, concerns were raised over AI’s impact on human creativity and critical thinking, particularly in Pakistan’s education system. Here, experts said that just as the reliance on calculators had weakened the ability to count, over dependence on tools like Chat GPT could weaken students’ ability to think critically and independently.
Speakers noted that AI should support—not replace—teachers, and that Humanity 5.0 requires a careful balance between technological progress and human values.
