The Karachi Marathon 2026  brought together a vibrant and determined crowd of runners, turning the city’s shoreline into a powerful stage to shore up health, courage and unity among residents. More than just a race, it was a message to Pakistan and the world that Karachi is alive , energetic and once again a safe city.

Sponsored by BYD automobile company, the international marathon saw participation from around 7,000 people  including 1,000  women of all ages. From seasoned athletes to enthusiastic amateurs, everyone joined the race with confidence and pride. Their shared goal was one to prove themselves and send a message to society that women are leaders in their own right.  Women’s participation was especially significant in a society where many still face social barriers to sports, particularly in demanding competitions like long distance running.

The event featured multiple categories full marathon, half marathon and 5 km race,   allowing participants of all abilities to compete and celebrate fitness. It was a well organized event which took care of safety measures. Interviews by these women showed they felt not only comfortable running on the streets of Karachi, but also empowered enough to take back the city.
