Keeping pashtuns United Globally

Pashtuns have been celebrating Pashtun culture day internationally every September 23rd since 2015.

Pashto Academy held a seminar in Quetta, attended by Pashtun literary figures from Afghanistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan this year.

.Pashtun culture encompasses a broad code of conduct, norms, and values, including Pashtunwali, the supreme unwritten law that defines the way of life in Pashtun society. Key elements of Pashtunwali include the Jirga system (a council for decision-making), Nanawatai (seeking refuge), Maraka (mediation), and Ashar (community cooperation).

On September 23, 2024 Pashtuns celebrated their culture with enthusiasm, showcasing their customs through cultural music and dance (including the traditional Attan), and by wearing traditional attire and turbans.

Beyond the festivities, Pashtun elders used the day to spread messages of love, peace, hospitality, and brotherhood. The day also emphasized important social issues such as women’s rights and the right to education and decision-making
