A young textile designer, Kashif Hingorjo has gone back to his Thari roots to incorporate original rainbow colors and everyday motifs into textiles. While the ancient art of weaving has been handed down to generations, being labor intensive, it is starting to fade away. Hingorjo was originally inspired by Thar’s Khadi shawls and gradually incorporated local themes like peacocks and birds into weaving garments. The jackets and dresses that he designs draws on all seven colors `Satrangi’ found in Thar. Modernizing the fabrics carries an appeal in a wider market that was otherwise being lost by the local artisans.
