Spirited May Day rallies were held throughout Pakistan on Wednesday, which urged that minimum wages be fixed at Pkr 50,000.
The National Trade Union Federation held a May Day rally in Karachi to demand that the government fix social security benefits for workers, end privatization and reorganize the public industries that were losing money because of governmental inefficiency.
The participants lamented the loss of jobs and decried the high cost of living as snatching away people’s right to live.
