The shortage of women doctors in Balochistan has been a cause of maternal mortality.
Now comes the facility of telehealth, introduced by the Peoples Primary Healthcare
Initiative – a public private partnership. PPHI brought telehealth to Kohlu in 2021. Its
impact has been to allow pregnant women to access health care providers in
Islamabad. Their online advice, as well as the ability to conduct health tests digitally,
has saved the lives of women. These women say they are able to discuss their
gynecological problems with female doctors from the privacy of their homes and obtain
quality health care.
