A woman in Masoodabad, Umerkot nominated by Better Cotton Initiative for her exemplary role is changing agricultural and social practices in Sindh. Kavita was noticeably more alert and active when the NGO began educating peasant women to refrain from child marriages and turn toward good agricultural practices. Kavita has since been given a plot of land, where she teaches farmers not to use chemicals and instead practice organic farming. The proof is in the healthy crops and the fact that now the society is on a trajectory to better health and education.
