The Amazon Sailfin Catfish and varies species of carp have recently been detected in the Sukkur to Karachi waterways route, raising alarm at their capacity to hurt the local catch. The World Wildlife Fund says the Amazon catfish has a limited capacity to damage marine life, as demonstrated in Bangladesh. The Sindh Fisheries Department says that these invasion species don’t possess the type of threat that drought and warming waters pose. According to them, the Fisheries Department is trying to counter the harmful effect of invasive species by planting more mangroves and channeling water so that the local species grow and prosper.
