In Balochistan, the internet has come to the rescue of women who want to grow small and medium scale businesses from the comfort of their homes.

Women in the conservative region are now starting up businesses online, which enable them to sell food and other domestic products through food chains and grocery stores.

The earnings have enabled the women not only to stand on their own feet, but also to grow their family incomes.

Amongst some of the businesses is the preservation of fruits that might be destroyed because of excessive heat or rains.

Their goods are sold not only in Balochistan but also in the Punjab.

According to the National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), Pakistan is home to 5.2 million small and medium enterprises, which contribute up to 30 percent of the total Gross Domestic Product and total 78 percent of non-agricultural labor.
