The ancient culture of Sindh boasts a beautiful instrument made from double flute, called Alghoza. It is considered an important component of Sindhi culture, which is popular not only in Sindh but Saraiki and Baloch areas.
Alghoza player Karu Hajam from Tharparker has been entertaining people by playing this instrument for 25 years. He plays tunes in Sindhi, Dhatki, and Urdu as well.
Alghozo is also considered to be the identity of Sindhi music and is part of the culture of Sindh for thousands of years.
Experts say that the instrument was first played in Mesopotamia (land between two rivers) thousands of years ago – in the region now known as Iraq.
In Pakistan, the trend of playing the Alghoza is declining.
However, special training and skill goes into this instrument.
