Punjab floods have created mental stress for its residents, who lost everything when the rains and floods arrived. First, they were provided tents, but now the families are being told to vacate the lands – even as they have nowhere to go. Water has entered their schools, interrupting the school going sessions. On top of it all, middle income farmers face losses because their crops were submerged by water. This is also going to increase food prices across the country for people who are already too poor to afford two square meals. It is one more reason why the UN has dedicated Oct. 10, 25 to providing mental health facilities in catastrophes and emergencies.
