On Child Labor Day

In Pakistan, child labor feeds a vicious cycle of poverty, because families desperately need income. Subsequently, hundreds of schools are empty because the children have no time to go to school. Instead, their low wages support their poor families.

The brick kiln industry particularly employs children because labor laws do not apply to them. The result is back breaking work for millions of children, without the opportunity to learn. A vicious cycle of poverty ensues, compounding problems that show no sign of resolution.
