The Pakistan Medical Association in Karachi hosted an engaging lecture on the Indus Valley Civilization as part of the Ardeshir Cowasjee Memorial Lecture series.

Delivered by Dr. Inayat Magsi, a researcher of Mohenjo Daro, the talk explored the civilization’s advanced urban planning, trade systems, and cultural significance.

Dr. Magsi shared fascinating insights, quoting Mohenjo Daro archives, according to which the 5,000 year ruins were discovered accidentally while the British were digging to construct an airstrip at the site.

Dr Magsi, who has also visited the relics in the British museum, UK, said that Harappa was uncovered during the laying of a railway line.

He emphasized how the civilization’s rich history has often been suppressed and called for embracing it as a cornerstone of regional identity.

The event underscored the importance of preserving the ancient heritage of Sindh to understand our past.
