An Afghan has used $300,000 of his private money to build a zoo in Kandahar, that can both educate and entertain citizens. The zoo is an ongoing project by Sardar Agha that has brought wildlife creatures from the region. The animals and birds are unique and beautiful, and create a sense of respect for nature in adults and children who visit. The zoo replaces one built in Kandahar decades ago that became dysfunctional because of the long years of strife in the country. In Taliban run Afghanistan, where there are few openings for entertainment, the zoo fulfills a vacuum for the people.
