A week ago Dr Naseem Salahuddin was still with us. Though injured in a road accident by a powerful vehicle driving head on, she was operated upon and the family was optimistic she would recover. Knowing what she had suffered, she collaborated in her treatment with senior doctors, including WHO, which she represented in Pakistan. May 14, news came she would remain in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in Morocco, then be shifted to a ward and brought for recovery to her home country. Then on Friday morning, rumors began circulating that she did not survive. The news spread like wildfire from Morocco to the medical community in Pakistan. When the family tried to confirm it, it was met by radio silence. On Friday May 22, our beloved sister passed away overseas. The world knew first what the family learned after days of hoping and waiting.
