The biggest coordinated militant attacks were carried out on 31 January, 2026 across more than ten districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, triggering large-scale security operations that are still ongoing. The army blames India and TTP fighters in Afghanistan, saying they used modern US weapons left behind by the fleeing army. According to official figures, nearly 200 people were killed, including 110 militants, 31 civilians and 18 security personnel. While dozens of others were injured. In Quetta, the attacks began around 6 a.m, with police stations, Frontier Corps check posts and security positions coming under fire in Sariab Road, Zarghoon Road, the Red Zone and near the railway station. The violence spread fear across the city, forcing residents to remain indoors. But as the BLA broke into the major banks in Quetta, locals fled with the currency. The banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Due to security concerns, train services and major highways linking Quetta with other cities have been suspended, while internet and mobile services remain disrupted in many areas. Security forces say the situation is being closely monitored.
