History Nails Jinnah’s Birthplace in Jheeruk, Sindh

In Pakistan, where historical records are hard to find, oral history abounds. However, there is sufficient historical evidence to show that the founder of Pakistan – Mohammed Ali Jinnah’s maternal grandfather, Moosa, came from Iran and Afghanistan at a time when the Shia Ismaili community were being persecuted in Iran. Moosa’s arrival tallies with the arrival of Aga Khan 1, which then attracted devotees from other parts of India. Jinnah’s mother’s Mithibai is reported to have given birth to the founder of Pakistan, next to the Aga Khan’s residence. A school in Jhirk also records that Jinnah studied there. His paternal side came from Gujrat, and were converts to the Khoja Shia Muslim faith.  Jinnah’s Western education and cosmopolitan background made him socialize with all faiths. His rise under British colonialism gave him the opportunity to work with Indian Congressional leaders to partition India and create Pakistan.
