The M. H. Panhwar Institute of Sindh Studies in Jamshoro hosted its first ever Water Festival, focusing on the critical issues surrounding the disbalanced distribution of water in Sindh. The event featured insightful sessions on agricultural water use, urban water supply, water pollution and the degradation of the Indus delta. There were thought provoking speeches by environmental experts and experienced journalists on how water is traded as a commodity, instead as a basic human right. Participants said that apart from the fact that a tail ender like Sindh gets less water than its share, the low level of rainfall and seepage of water has left the region parched and its people thirsty. The festival included exhibitions and music that would attract the ordinary public, even while encouraging them to hold serious conversations about water that could benefit future generations.
