Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, stands as a testament to religious and cultural pluralism. The city once hosted several historic Hindu temples, some predating the 20th century. Among them, the Sita Ram Temple -formerly known as Raghunath Temple—was a prominent center for worship and community gatherings. Over time, the temple has fallen into neglect: much of its original land has been encroached upon, and it now lies hidden amidst modern constructions.
Historian Dr. Sabir Afaqi cites seven temples across Muzaffarabad: Raghunath Temple, Baba Kathia Temple, Partab Goshala Temple Laxmi Narayan Temple,Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Radha Krishna Brahmachari Temple and Nath Temple
Today, most of these structures are in a dilapidated condition, having endured damage from earthquakes, weathering, and persistent neglect.
