Nestled along Balochistan’s vast and picturesque coastline, Taak is a remote fishing village 35 km from Ormara Naval Base. Unlike other coastal settlements, Taak is a village without women ,inhabited only by fishermen who migrate here from nearby villages during peak fishing seasons.
Life in Taak revolves around the sea and survival . The fishermen not only hunt for fish using traditional methods but also perform chores like cooking, cleaning , laundry and crafting fishing nets that are normally done by women. However, their isolation comes at the cost. Devoid of basic facilities , government support or modern fishing equipment, they risk their lives daily without safety measures , medical assistance or financial stability .
Despite its stunning coastline and vibrant marine life , Taak remains hidden from the world, attracting few visitors. The lack of development and extreme poverty continue to overshadow the village’s natural beauty. With few government jobs, modestly educated Baloch turn toward fishing. They request the government to provide low interest loans to buy bigger fishing boats, that could lead to bigger catches and improve their livelihood.
