Radio is considered the most personable medium to connect to people, especially as it can be heard anywhere to inform, educate and entertain. Apart from Radio Pakistan, there are 239 FM radio stations in the country that transmit in English and local languages. Digital apps now enable listeners to connect their phones to cars and hear audio that is not on the listening frequency. But in an era of competing media, namely print, television and now the internet, radio struggles to keep its audiences. Shifting global considerations and the advance of social media has led to cuts in public funding for foreign radio stations.
