When the British selected Kan Mehtarzai to construct a railway station in Balochistan’s north, its location was recorded as being at the highest elevation in Asia. The region experiences snowfall in the winter and has fruits in the orchards in the summertime. Today the station lies dismantled, but the snow-capped hills and trees offer a tantalizing view for tourists. Despite its beauty and the fact that it is on a major highway to Islamabad, few people come here. The few that do, stay only for a few hours because there are no rest houses or facilities that would fetch income from tourism.
