
The 10th Ayaz Melo, an annual literary and cultural festival, named after Sindhi poet and writer, Shaikh Ayaz, gave JB Connects the opportunity to present on Dec 20-22, 2024 in the premises of the Sindh Culture Department.
The festival featured a diverse array of activities, including poetry recitations, musical performances, and discussions, attracting artists, writers, and cultural enthusiasts from across the region.
The session on the Rise of Digital Media in Pakistan was attended by digital media owners, each of whom shared their respective experiences on launching this relatively new medium.
Seasoned journalist and media expert, Nafisa Hoodbhoy shared her insights on the transformative power of digital platforms in reshaping journalism and storytelling.
She highlighted the opportunities digital media offers for amplifying marginalized voices, fostering cultural preservation, and bridging gaps in communication.
Hoodbhoy also addressed challenges like combating misinformation, ensuring digital ethics, and promoting media literacy in a rapidly evolving landscape.
Although the Ayaz Melo is celebrated every December, this was the tenth occasion.
The festival, held around the Khanabadosh Cafe, founded by women’s rights activists Amar Sindhu and Arfana Mallah, featured a diverse array of activities, including poetry recitations, musical performances, and discussions, attracting artists, writers, and cultural enthusiasts from across the region.
The festival is held every year in December to celebrate the rich heritage of Sindhi culture and literature, honoring the legacy of the esteemed poet Sheikh Ayaz.
