Gul Nasreen, from Skardu, Gigit Baltistan, is breaking barriers by introducing women to the thrilling world of jeep racing.
Her journey began with a personal commitment to carve a path for women in this new and exhilarating field.
Nasreen’s mission to bring women into jeep racing is fueled by the belief that women are no less capable than anyone else.
Her pioneering spirit led her to participate in jeep racing for the first time, where she not only competed but emerged in first position.
Nasreen’s husband, Akram Khawaja, proudly shares the journey of running the Baltistan 4X4 Club for the past 6-7 years.
“With 16 male and four female members, we seek to include more women who possess hidden talents.”

With that in mind, he says that he began from his own home.
Inspired by her husband’s decision to introduce her to this non-traditional field, Nasreen practiced hard and made her name in jeep racing within the women’s category.
She now helps maintain their impressive fleet of 7-8 vehicles, including 3 Wranglers, Land Cruisers, and a Jimny.
That has opened up her knowledge of auto parts and vehicle maintenance.
Akram applauds Nasreen’s determination and skill as a team leader.
“Nasreen is also a supportive partner and contributes to every aspect of my life,” he says.
He expresses pride in her efforts to find employment for underprivileged women in Gilgit Baltistan.
Nasreen’s excitement about the 2024 jeep races is palpable.
She eagerly awaits its onset, promising to work even harder and inspire more women to step forward and engage in this male-dominated field.
