As the monsoon season ends and cooler weather sets in, tics, fleas and mosquitoes are spawning off warmer temperatures, sitting on bacteria infected waters and biting exposed people. With above average rains in 2024, mosquitoes have bred rapidly across the country. Given that infected insects are biting humans, there has been an exponential growth of vector borne diseases like dengue, chickungunya and malaria this fall. Exposed puddles and potholes are causing mosquitoes to multiply. While mosquito repellants are essential, wearing light and loose clothing is recommend avoiding the disease.
