The practice of making clay pots for carrying water and drinking is still practiced in Juhi, 20 km from Dadu in Sindh and the adjoining province of Balochistan. But pottery making is a dying art, since the advent of plastic. On the other hand, doctors warn that drinking in plastic can be harmful for health. Potters reveal the hard work they undertake to obtain mud, refine it and then shape it according to design. They also note that clay pots keep water cool and free of bacteria. The artisans urge governmental support to enable their trade to flourish, given it is more beneficial for health.
