Climate Change Fund Lapses

The Sindh government failed to utilize 41 percent of budget allocated for climate change, according to a workshop by a research group, Citizenry on June 2, 2024, in Karachi.

Discussants heard that while the government allocated Pkr 48,801 budget between 2007-2024 to address environmental problems created by climate change, it spent only Pkr 20,200.26 million of that budget.

Researcher Sadiya Siddiqui, journalist Oonib Azam, and climate activist Akhtar Rasool conducted the workshop, which resolved that funds were under-utilized even while climate change was causing rapid deterioration in the environment.
