Drip, Drip, Drip

Drip irrigation technology, introduced in the drought-stricken region of Balochistan has given a boost to agriculture in the province.
Farmer Hameedullah in Qila Saifullah is using the scientific irrigation method, under which a pump funnels water to a pipe with tiny holes in it.

That has enabled him to cultivate crops, including vegetables and fruits on ten acres of land.
Almost 2,000 trees are watered by this method, including luscious fruits that have huge commercial value.
According to scientists, this methodology allows water to reach into the roots of the crops.

As a result, water is utilized in the most efficient way and farming is not disrupted by over watering.
Local landlords advocate this method as the best possible to save electricity and water in the province.

They urge government interest in this technology to resolve the difficulties being currently faced by farmers in Balochistan.
