The Hyderabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry has opened up market access to products made by skilled women from rural areas.
Established after Karachi, the chamber has allowed women access markets for the first time. That has empowered them to support their families for the first time.
Currently, Hyderabad Women’s Chamber consists of 200 women who provide a space to women artisans to showcase their products, including home made embroidered items and to engage in training for make-up artists.
However, while women appreciate the Hyderabad Women’s Chamber, they maintain that the government needs to provide interest free loans to women to enable them to expand their business.
According to them such government support is critical for women to enter the economy and contribute to nation building.
