Sindh Preserves Antiquities
The Sindh Government has established the Archaeological Scientific Laboratory in Karachi to preserve antiquities, including maps, coins, pottery and other items and documents. T
They have stored around 4000 artifacts and more than 2500 old pre-partition and post-partition maps. To preserve the heritage 12 machines have been ordered.
Modern machinery in the lab not only preserves the artifacts but also digitizes them. The Archive Lab will also help researchers abroad.
Experts say that the establishment of the lab is laudable, but the 2010 flood caused heavy damage to historical sites.
Still more infrastructure was destroyed by the 2022 flood, with 75 percent of historic buildings and heritage buildings destroyed.
Archeologists recommend that thousands of sites be excavated, and their antiquities be preserved.
