Qilla Abdullah Fort

A fort in Qilla Abdullah captures a flavor of history from the war fought between 1839-1842 war in Afghanistan.
Ghazi Abdullah Khan fought in that war, and his 7th generation heirs still occupy that fort.

The fort has a huge hall, with 2-3 rooms, and separate rooms for guests. The fireplace in the fort was used during winter.
The ceilings of the fort are high to enable air circulation.

Architectural experts maintain that present day builders can learn a good deal from the manner in which buildings were constructed over 100 years ago.

The archeological department has not attempted to preserve this fort. The heirs of Ghazi Abdullah say that they have not approached the department, and they have not shown interest to preserve it.
Preserving this fort will not only serve to maintain centuries old culture, but also become a tourist site for the new generation.
